Board down the Alexandria Dune Field, then cool off in the Sundays River.
This two-hour outing starts with a short boat trip from our dock at Colchester, Addo, along the Sundays River to the dunes. On the way, take in the river, its birdlife and the coastal section of Addo Elephant National Park. Then it’s time to sandboard or sandsled down the Alexandria Dune Field, the largest and least degraded coastal dune sea in Africa. Our guides help beginners get started and give experienced boarders tips to try something new.

Who it suits: beginners, families, friends and groups who want an active, sandy adventure near Addo. Non-boarding friends can join as spectators.
What to bring: sunscreen, a hat, sunglasses, water and clothes you don’t mind getting sandy. Bring a towel if you plan to cool off in the river.

I discovered Sunday River Adventures online. Since we weren't sure if we'd have enough time, we booked very spontaneously---which was no problem at all, even with our tight schedule. The tour starts with a short boat trip on the Sunday River. The dunes are amazing even without sandboarding. Robert put a lot of effort into showing us beginners the ropes. We all had a great time; you don't need any experience or great athletic ability to enjoy it. My daughter wanted to do this trip for her birthday, and it was a memorable experience for all of us.
